Students found to be following the school policy during a cell phone check last month were invited to enjoy ice cream today! Ms. VanKingsley, Mr. Chase and Ms. Trask were among the scoopers, and students got to add the toppings themselves. Skipping the screens during school has its rewards!

The New York State Sportswriters Association (NYSSWA) 2025 Class D All-State Football Teams were released this week, and the list includes three Delaware Academy seniors. Adam Cook and Lucas Nealis were both named to the Class D First Team-Defense, Cook for the second year in a row, and Nealis moving up last year's Honorable Mention. Steven Hills was recognized with Honorable Mention-Defense. Congratulations to all three of our Varsity Football Bulldogs!

Coming soon- Elementary PickUp Patrol! Delaware Academy will soon implement a new platform for parents of elementary students called PickUp Patrol. Parents will use PickUp Patrol to make changes to their child’s dismissal plan, including early dismissals and end-of-day plans. Watch your email for more information and a registration link. Delaware Academy competed in the Catskill Area School Study Council's Upstate Academic Competition at SUNY Oneonta yesterday, making it to the semifinals as the #3 seed among 14 teams. A loss to one of the Oneonta CSD teams in that round kept them from the championship this year, but they finished strong with a 4-1 record. Congratulations! Evie Ainsworth and Asa Moxley returned to the team for their second year, with Jason VanMaaren and Jack Mokay joining this year to complete the team. Mr. Chase is the advisor. Schools competing this year were Cooperstown CSD (3 teams), Oneonta CSD (3 teams) Seton Catholic Central School (3 teams), Milford CSD (2 teams), Delaware Academy CSD at Delhi, Gilbertsville-Mount Upton CSD, and this year’s champion, Greene CSD. The counseling department will be hosting an information night for students and parents on Thursday, January 8th, at 6:00 pm in the high school library. School counselors will review graduation requirements, diploma endorsements, and considerations for senior year. Admissions counselors from SUNY Delhi and Hartwick College and a recent Delaware Academy graduate will also be there to discuss college-related topics, including application tips, how to know if a college is a good fit, questions to ask during a college visit, entrance requirements, campus visits, what colleges look for in an applicant, and scholarships.

Students from Delaware Academy’s high school Community Action Service Art class visited the Delhi Rehabilitation and Nursing Center on Friday to deliver ornaments that they’d made to the residents. The class, taught by Wendy Reid-Jackson, made around 170 brightly colored angel ornaments, some of which they handed out directly to residents during their visit. They also delivered some art gifts that had been created by elementary students in their art classes, which are taught by Aric Kollig. The residents enjoyed visiting with the students and appreciated the angel ornaments.

Ms. Trask and Mr. Shultz braved the snowflakes this morning to greet students for the last day of school before the break. Ms. Lindner, Ms. Lamb, Mr. Baxter and students Dylan Leddy and Lily McGonigal serenaded arriving students with Christmas carols, continuing a DA tradition and setting a seasonal spirit for the day!

There was a surprise addition to the lunch menu today– new tables and seats! The comfy seats and booths seem to be an instant hit!
The PreK-2nd Grade Winter Sing-Along took place Tuesday, and what a lot of fun it was! Santa and his elves brought some extra holiday spirit with their surprise appearance. Thanks to Mrs. Buel, the teachers, aides and accompanist Mrs. Wheatley for making it all possible!
