Congratulations to all who received recognition at the Academic Awards Banquet and Ceremony Thursday night!

It was a busy but fun Friday at DA! From the middle school field days to the student barbeque with celebrity servers, there was a lot to keep everyone smiling.

Today it was some kindergarteners from Mrs. Burrows' class that helped with the harvest!

The Kindergarten end-of-year celebration yesterday was filled with singing and smiling. And it seems Mr. Mackey was not the only one wearing a tie for the big event! Thank you Mrs. Buel and Mrs. Gibson!

The Pre-Kindergarten students gave an exuberant performance of delightful songs yesterday for our year-end celebration. Thank you Mrs. Coleman, Mrs. Buel and Mrs. Gibson!

Delaware Academy’s FFA Chapter held its awards banquet last week. Outgoing President Anna Clark and Vice President Marshall LaPierre were recognized for having achieved the Empire Degree, the highest honor students can receive at the state level, and Garrett LaPierre received his Greenhand Degree, the first step in an FFA member's journey. With many projects and activities like maple syrup production and trips, including to national and state conventions, it’s been a memorable year for the chapter! Thank you Mrs. Somers and Mr. Kline! Look for DA FFA members at local agricultural and community events this summer too, including the county fair!

For some students in Mrs. Reid-Jackson's art class, ceiling tiles have become art canvases! Working individually or collaboratively, they've created designs and then painted the drop ceiling panels. Shown working on a collaborative tile are 9th graders Liam Kievit and Lincoln Raba (not in photo: Luke Sherman, Jordan Scala, Christian Crespo). "This Is Us" ceiling tile painting was created by senior Delia Pardee.

Mrs. Yando's First Aid class learned about the latest life-saving procedures and equipment from a local emergency medical professional Thursday. Shawn Kauffman is a registered nurse, paramedic, a CEN certified emergency nurse, NYS EMS CIC certified instructor coordinator and American Heart Association instructor, and visits the class each year to share his experience and knowledge. Thank you, Mr. Kauffman!

As work on the lower soccer/softball field nears completion, the contractors are able to turn more of their attention to Dave Kelly Field. This large project will be a very busy site this summer!

Straight from the garden to the cafeteria– harvesting radishes and leafy greens from the 2nd Grade garden is fun!

The Senior High Spring Concert took place Tuesday night, and it was delightful! The concert featured performances by the Concert Band, Modern Band Class, Jazz Band, Chorus and Orchestra, as well as solo performances by Jack Mokay and Paisley Smith. Seniors were recognized, as were NYSSMA medalists, along with other end-of-year recognitions. Thank you, Ms. Lindner, Mrs. Gibson, Miss Lamb, and Mrs. Curley for a lovely evening of music!

It's an exciting morning at Delaware Academy, with the arrival and installation of the natural turf on the lower softball/soccer field. Our contractors have been working quickly and efficiently, and we appreciate it! #DABulldogs

Mrs. Lane's first grade class celebrated the publication of their collaborative book, "Animals Around the World," with a reading party last week. For this project, students researched an animal, wrote about it, and created an illustration to accompany it; then it was all sent out for publishing. The lovely hardcover books have arrived, and made their debut at the celebration. When Mrs. Lane read their part in the book, each student received their "Published Author" certificate from Ms. E'moni. Congratulations to all of our young authors and illustrators!

Wednesday was the first harvest from Mrs. Gardner’s 2nd grade class garden. All the salads in the cafeteria were made with the fresh chives or lettuce, and they were delicious! Thank you Mrs. Gardner and Ms. Randall, and thank you student gardeners!
