A few DA SADD chapter members and a friend, along with co-advisor Mr. Santaiti, participated in a suicide awareness walk this weekend in Delhi. The event was sponsored by a fraternity from SUNY Delhi, in partnership with a national suicidal awareness and remembrance group, Suicide Awareness & Remembrance Flag. The group walked from SUNY Delhi to the square, where multiple people opened up about their mental health, speaking about the steps to take to get help and what helped them “out of the darkness." The Delaware County Office of Mental Health was also there in support of the event. #Bulldogscare

What a great Homecoming Weekend! Girls soccer gets the win over Unadilla Valley 3-0, followed by a come-from-behind Bulldogs victory in the varsity football game vs. Walton, 27-16. The DA Pep Band was on hand for Friday’s game, and the youth teams were recognized at halftime on Dave Kelly Field. Saturday was busy, with the Homecoming Parade in the village followed by recognition of our fall sports teams on the field. The Homecoming Dance at the school wrapped things up. Thanks to all who worked hard to make it all happen, and to all who came out for the festivities. Let’s go, Bulldogs!

Students in Ms. Sherman’s 10th grade Career Exploration class, 7th grade Computer Science class and the STEM class had the exciting opportunity to explore different career clusters last week using virtual reality headsets. They were able to step into real-world scenarios, practice hands-on skills, and get a glimpse of what a future career might look like through an immersive VR experience. DCMO BOCES Career Destinations facilitated the use of the VR headsets, which were made available by the Career Development Office of the NYS Department of Labor in Oneonta. What an exciting way to explore career possibilities- and new technology!

How far is the farthest human-made object from Earth? Working in teams to analyze and interpret data to determine scale properties of objects, 8th grade students in Mr. Layman's science class created scale models of the distance between celestial objects in the solar system. On their scale models, students included the farthest human-made object– Voyager 1 (which contains the famous “golden record “with a message to any extraterrestrial life forms that might encounter the probes in interstellar space). This laboratory practice combined science and engineering practices with disciplinary core ideas and crosscutting concepts to create a three-dimensional lesson that was both challenging and fun!
