Board of Education President Tammy Neumann and Superintendent Carey Shultz welcomed teachers and staff back to the schools on Wednesday, the first of two staff development days. It was a busy day, with informational meetings, staff breakfast and lunch, introductions of new teachers and staff, mandatory training and a variety of other tasks in preparation for the beginning of classes next week. We’re excited to get this school year underway!

Today’s 216-229 victory over Greene makes 3 in a row for the DA varsity golf team! Cameron Winner had the low score in the rain-shortened match. On Monday, DA won a close one at Hancock, 243-245. Zach Anderson had a low score of 43 for the Bulldogs there. 3 and 0, way to go, Bulldogs!

A team from the DCMO BOCES Health & Safety Office was at Delaware Academy on Thursday, conducting a Right To Know presentation for school employees and doing safety checks through our school buildings. Here, Assistant School Health & Safety Coordinator Rick Shaw speaks to employees in the auditorium.

Dave Kelly Field was a busy place this morning, with football, soccer and cross country athletes all practicing at the multi-use facility. A Binghamton television station interviewed Coach Neumann and several players as well. With the start of the competitive season coming up, all varsity and JV sports practices are now officially underway, along with modified football. Other modified sports practice begins next week. Let's go, Bulldogs!

Today was New Employee Orientation Day! It was great to welcome our new teachers and staff. Superintendent Carey Shultz welcomed them, and they also heard from the principals, special education director, and managers of the business office, food service, facilities and data technology. Geographically, we have a large district, so to give them a firsthand look, Mr. Shultz joined them on a school bus for a firsthand tour around the district (thank you, Mr. Blackman!) . We’re happy to welcome all our new teachers and staff to the Bulldog team for the 2026-2027 school year!

Pre-K and Kindergarten Roundup will be taking place soon! Families with pre-K or kindergarten children will be receiving informational packets in the mail. We look forward to a fun visit!

Friday was FFA Day at the Delaware County Fair, and our FFA students, recent grads and advisors were at the fairgrounds for all the fun. In the morning, FFA members from the 6 chapters in Delaware County were judged on their knowledge in different areas, including animal anatomy, small engine parts, general agriculture, and weed and tree identification. That was followed by a showmanship competition in the dairy show ring that included classes for novice, junior, senior and “VIP” (school administrators). Delaware Academy students (and recent grads) Lexi Davis, Josh Brandenburg, Hailey Brandenburg, Eric Blackman and Emily Blackman participated, along with our entries in the “VIP” show, Middle School Principal Deborah Liddle and School Business Manager Sara Werlau (“The Cow Whisperer”). Thank you to our FFA chapter advisors Mrs. Somers and Mr. Kline for helping to facilitate the FFA events at the fair!

We are excited to announce that PickUp Patrol is now active and ready for families of elementary and 6th grade students to use! PickUp Patrol helps streamline and safely manage student dismissal plans. Delaware Academy CSD at Delhi will hold its August school board meeting on Monday, August 24, 2026, with the public session beginning at 6:00 p.m. in the High School Library Media Center. Those who are interested in viewing it online may do so at https://youtube.com/live/C7c9Jo74Xa8.

It may be summer, but there's a lot going on around the school campus this week! Crews sealed and striped the parking lots and drive at the middle school and elementary school on Monday. Another crew is working on sealing and painting the tennis courts all this week. And up high, our own DA team is scraping and painting the bell tower. All of these projects help to maintain and protect our school infrastructure, and we appreciate the efficiency and dedication of the workers and the patience of the DA community. Thank you!

Heads up! The DA tennis courts will be unavailable beginning Monday, August 10, allowing workers to prep and paint the court surface. They will be available again beginning Monday, August 17. Thanks for your patience and understanding!

Reminder–Pre-K and Kindergarten screening days are coming up next week!
Please note that the location has been changed to the high school library/media center - parking is available in front of the high school. Other details, including specific screening times, will be communicated to families directly by email. What an exciting time!

Attention Parents and Athletes: As we prepare for the upcoming fall sports season at Delaware Academy, please make sure to complete all required forms on FinalForms as soon as possible. Remember:
- All forms must be completed on FinalForms before the start of the season
- New York State requires a new Health History Form each season your child participates in a sport.
- This form must be filled out within 30 days before the start of the season.
- Physicals must be up to date and reviewed before the start of practice.
Varsity football starts on Monday, August 17th and other varsity and JV sports start August 24. Modified football starts on Monday, August 31st, and all other modified sports start on September 8.. Athletes will NOT be allowed to begin practice without a current physical and all FinalForms completed. If your child is not yet signed up for a fall sport and would like to be, please contact Athletic Director Kyle Murray as soon as possible to get them registered.
