Carri Covell and Jaycie Watson from FOR-DO (Friends of Recovery - Dedicated to Others) visited Mrs. Reid-Jackson’s Community Action Service Art class Friday to give a presentation about their organization and the services they provide to our community. Students from Mrs. Yando's 4th period Health class also participated. At the end of the presentation, our Community Action Service Art students, represented here by Amelia Groh and Grace Reynolds, gave the presenters the ceramic recovery tiles the class made to give to individuals that access services at FOR-DO.

A Japanese visitor spent the day at Delaware Academy Tuesday on a cultural visit. Kota Igarashi, who is visiting relatives in the area while on break from his own school, was paired with a DA student to shadow so that he could experience what a day of an American high school student might be like. We hope he’s enjoyed his visit!

This week, FFA student leaders from across the state attended the NY FFA State Leaders Experience in Albany. Delaware Academy students Delaney McCann and Hailey Brandenburg represented our school’s chapter at the 2-day event, where they met with legislative leaders and joined conversations and discussions about New York State agriculture issues and policies with legislators, NYS Department of Ag & Markets, NY Farm Bureau and a number of food banks from across the state. It was a great experience for the students, who were challenged to dig into the real agricultural challenges facing our state, pushed to think deeper, hear new perspectives, and recognize the power of their own stories as emerging leaders in the Empire State.
