Students in Mr. Kline’s 2nd period Environmental Science class are shown answering questions related to the location of sunrise, sunset and the apparent path of the Sun across the sky, as would be viewed by an observer in New York State at different seasons of the year. The PVC pipe model celestial hemisphere is representing the horizon, a north-south meridian, an east-west meridian and the arc of the Sun across the celestial hemisphere on the equinoxes and solstices. It was built by Mr Kline using materials from a local hardware store, and was also used in other science classes taught by Mr. Kline and Mr. Backus.
