It’s maple season, and the Delaware Academy saphouse has been busy! FFA members Marshall, Eric, Gunner and Nathan did the collecting, boiling and processing one recent day after school. Science teacher and FFA co-advisor Mr. Kline kept a close eye on things! You can read more about the FFA’s maple syrup-making in this week’s Reporter newspaper– it’s a nice feature story on an impressive undertaking!
Congratulations to all the talented students participating in the All-County Music Festival band, jazz band and chorus performances tonight. We're proud to have such a big DA presence, and of the hard work it took to prepare for it!
With St. Patrick's Day right around the corner, the first grade classes are taking no chances! Ms. Mostert's and Ms. Lane's classes made leprechaun traps, and Ms. Wilcox's class made a big trap together for the classroom. So much creativity!

Ms. Wilcox's first grade class visited Mr. Layman in 7th grade to see igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic rock examples. First graders are learning about the history of the earth and how rocks are formed. Mr. Layman used crayons to demonstrate how each type of rock was formed. The class favorite was the melted crayons cooling and hardening, just like igneous rocks are formed from molten magma and lava cooling. What a great example of cross-level learning!
Tonight! This in-person opportunity will be held at our elementary school from 4:00 - 5:30. If you'd like to learn more about the transition from CPSE to CPE, this one's for you!

Students in Mrs. Sherman's 8th grade Family and Consumer Sciences class helped deliver "book boats" to the pre-kindergarten class at the elementary school this week. The boats are a FCCLA (Family, Career and Community Leaders of America) project by eighth grader Lilly, who planned and organized the project. She found local sponsors for each of the book boats, and enlisted the help of other students to decorate and letter the boats, make cozy blankets, and assemble each of the fun reading vessels. Lilly is documenting the steps of the project, and will be entering it in a state FCCLA competition soon. Nice work, Lily!
