Labor Day is over, and everybody was back for the Opening Superintendent's Conference today! Deputy Superintendent Carey Shultz and Board of Education President Tammy Neumann, Special Education Director Winsome Zinkievich and the building principals welcomed teachers and staff, new and returning. Everybody's excited to see our students return on Thursday!




We welcomed our newest teachers and staff to the Bulldog family on Thursday, with a full day of information and activities. New teachers were joined by experienced DA teachers who will serve as mentors. Deputy Superintendent Carey Shultz, building principals and department heads introduced the new staff and teachers to Delaware Academy, including a walking tour of the buildings and even a school bus tour of the district with transportation Director Gregg Verspoor, then sent them off at the end of the day with a customized DA Bulldog spirit shirt, made by for them onsite by the principals and Director of Special Education Winsome Zinkievich. Welcome, everybody – we’re glad you’re here!

Tuesday was Kindergarten Roundup, and the elementary school was bubbling with excitement! New kindergarteners met their teachers and got to know their classrooms, and parents met Interim Elementary Principal Robert Mackey and other school staff. We're looking forward to a fun year!

This week, the Delaware Academy Board of Education welcomed its new student members, Brinley Wager and Rocco Schnabel. They're looking forward to a great year! Shown with Brinley and Rocco are Board of Education Trustees Lucy Kelly, Seth Haight and Ro Avila.

Don't forget– 9th Grade Orientation is Wednesday evening! Students will learn about the resources and information available to help them succeed, get their schedules and locker assignments. See you there!

The Delaware Academy Board of Education accepted a donation from the Class of 2023 at Monday night's meeting. The donation, a painting of the school by DA alum Alex Taylor (Class of 2019), was unveiled to applause from the board members, family and others. Board Trustee Seth Haight and Mr. Taylor spoke about the painting, which took the artist about 80 hours to complete. The painting will now hang in the hallway outside the district office.




Delaware Academy CSD at Delhi will host its August board meeting on August 26, 2024, with the public session beginning at 6:00 p.m. in the High School Library. Those who are interested in viewing it online may do so at https://youtube.com/live/BErdqaK0aDw?feature=share
