While the construction of the athletic fields have generated a lot of excitement, there's been plenty of other work going on this summer, including new heating infrastructure, paving, security and technology upgrades, new lighting and sound systems, and new technology labs (to name just a few of the projects going on!). Our school has been a beehive of activity all summer, all over!

Friday was FFA Day at the Delaware County Fair, and the Delaware Academy FFA Chapter was well-represented! In the morning, members were judged on their knowledge in different areas, including weed and tree identification. That was followed by a showmanship competition in the dairy show ring that included classes for novice, junior, senior and “VIP” (school administrators). Ms. Liddle, our Middle School Principal, looked like a natural in the show ring! Thanks to Ms. Liddle, DA FFA advisors Mrs. Somers and Mr. Kline, and our participating FFA members: Emily Blackman, Eric Blackman, Hailey Brandenburg, Joshua Brandenburg, Lexi Davis, Mark Jefferys, DeLaney McCann and Levi Shephard.

With the turf installation at Dave Kelly Field now complete, work has shifted to the new track surface. We ask that no one enter the area until the work is finished- foot traffic during the track surface curing process will leave permanent marks. We expect the track work to be completed within the next few weeks. It's an exciting time to be a Bulldog!

Delaware Academy's FFA chapter is at the Delaware County Fair this week! You can see their chapter display and individual member projects in the Youth Building at the fairgrounds in Walton. On Friday, members will participate in the FFA Judging and Demonstration.

Attention Parents and Athletes: As we prepare for the upcoming fall sports season at Delaware Academy, please make sure to complete all required forms on FinalForms as soon as possible. Remember: - All forms must be completed on FinalForms before the start of the season - New York State requires a new Health History Form each season your child participates in a sport. - This form must be filled out within 30 days before the start of the season. - Physicals must be up to date and reviewed before the start of practice.
Varsity & JV Sports start on Monday, August 18th. Modified Sports start on Monday, August 25th. Athletes will NOT be allowed to begin practice without a current physical and all FinalForms completed. If your child is not yet signed up for a fall sport and would like to be, please contact Athletic Director Kyle Murray as soon as possible to get them registered. In the coming days, families who currently receive communications from the school through SchoolMessenger will receive an email invitation from Delaware Academy to register for a new, parent communication platform called ParentSquare. This platform is designed to streamline all communication between the district, families, and students. ParentSquare will offer a convenient and effective way to share emergency notifications, as well as reminders about upcoming events and schedule changes related to both academic and extracurricular activities.

It may be summer, but a number of Delaware Academy staff came together Wednesday to review the LINKS Plan through a collaborative process that unites educators in a professional learning community. Together, they reviewed data, reflected on instructional practices, and planned strategically to support and improve student achievement. LINKS is a regional comprehensive action and strategic planning process; Ms. Dutcher and Ms. Liddle attended facilitator training at DCMO BOCES on Tuesday in preparation for Wednesday's session at the school.
