Delaware Academy CSD at Delhi welcomed 33 local veterans and their families and guests for a morning of special recognition Friday, November 8. Breakfast was served by National Honor Society students, followed by a moving musical program, performed by high school chorus with signing by third grade students, and the high school orchestra and concert band. There was a vocal and guitar performance by student Paisley Smith and a violin duet by student Briannah Pringle and high school music teacher Jacqueline Gibson. The program also included a keynote address by local Marine Corps veteran Tyler Evans, door prizes, “roll call,” and presentation of a gift to the local American Legion Post, a set of cornhole boards made by students in the FFA and the Community Action Service Art class. Veterans also received cards created by the same art class and bookmarks made by elementary art students, who also made special placemats for the breakfast. It was an amazing morning! This is the 11th year that Delaware Academy has held this special event to honor local local veterans.
