D.A. Care Closet: A Resource for Our Students

Delaware Academy is proud to offer the D.A. Care Closet, a confidential resource located in the high school counseling office. The Care Closet is stocked with essential hygiene items such as shampoo, conditioner, soap, deodorant, hair accessories, lotion, toothbrushes, toothpaste, feminine hygiene products, socks, underwear, laundry soap, and dryer sheets. Students are welcome to access these items whenever they need them. Requests for items can be made in the counseling office or to any trusted adult in the school.

In addition to these supplies, the Care Closet also has a monetary fund available to help meet specific student needs. Students, parents, or teachers may submit requests for needed items. The fund can be used to purchase items such as clothing, winter coats, shoes, special event attire, school supplies, backpacks, sporting goods, other personal necessities, and even with food assistance. Purchases are coordinated with the student’s input to make sure items are appropriate and helpful.

If you or someone you know could benefit from this resource, or if you’d like to contribute, please contact the High School Counseling Office for more information.
