CONCERT DATES,CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS, AND GRADING

REQUIRED CONCERT DATES
Please put these dates in your calendars. These performances are part of your grade for this class.

DECEMBER 10, 2015 (snow date Dec. 14): WINTER CONCERT; D.A. Auditorium; Report to Choir Room at 6:40 pm

MARCH 22, 2016: POPS CONCERT; D.A. Auditorium; Report to Choir Room at 6:40 pm

JUNE 7, 2016: SPRING CONCERT; D.A. Auditorium; Report to Choir Room at 6:40 pm


​There may be other performing opportunities such as All-County and NYSSMA Festivals. They will be announced well in advance and also be posted on my web page.

Attire for performances:  MEN: black dress pants, solid white button-down dress shirt, black socks, black dress shoes.  Ties are preferable, but optional.  Girls: Black skirt and solid white blouse or solid black dress (please no patterns, polka dots, stripes, etc.), black dress shoes.  All attire for performances must be school-appropriate.

CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS 

You are expected to follow Delaware Academy student behavior expectations at all times. This includes arriving to class on time, having the appropriate materials for class, being respectful to your peers and teachers, and contributing to the class in a positive manner.

GRADING

Your grade for this class is calculated as following:  

50% Participation and Preparation: Being on time, having the appropriate materials (music provided), singing to the best of your ability, memorizing your music when appropriate, and rehearsal etiquette (as outlined the first day of class).

50% Required Performances:  This is the equivalent to your major test or final exam.  This grade includes attendance, appropriate concert attire, appropriate concert etiquette, and singing to the best of your ability.  The only acceptable excuses from a performance are unforeseen emergencies and severe illness.

Parents: Please try to contact me in advance if possible (by phone or email).  If it is a last minute emergency, please send a written excuse to me for the reason of your child’s absence from the performance within a week of the missed performance.  Excused absences will result in an exempt grade.
