COVID-19 Updates

February 8, 2021

Dear Delaware Academy Family,

Please be advised that a student at Delaware Academy Middle/High School has tested positive for Covid-19.  The District has been in contact with the Delaware County Department of Health (DOH) and is following steps outlined in our Reopening Plan and as directed by the DOH to help prevent the potential spread of the virus.

The student was last on campus on Wednesday, 2/3/21, and did not become symptomatic until Sunday, 2/7/21.  Contact tracing, conducted by the Delaware County DOH determined that there are no additional staff or students identified for quarantine resulting from the details of this case.

Therefore, this notification is for informational purposes only.  There are no changes to our instructional models or schedules in either building.

The district continues to monitor our overall status on a daily basis.  If/when new cases are identified, it will be communicated to our community as well as any changes to the status of our learning models in both buildings.

It is important that we all continue to comply with established health and safety protocols including social distancing, face coverings, good hygiene practices, and monitoring for symptoms.  If you or your child(ren) experience any symptoms of Covid-19, please stay home, contact your family physician and the school nurse.

As always, we are doing our best to maintain transparency while taking steps we feel are necessary to protect the overall health and safety of our staff, students, and community. We appreciate your continued patience, understanding and cooperation.

Sincerely,

Kelly M. Zimmerman
Superintendent
