Delaware Academy SADD students help to educate their peers on Mental Health Resources: On Monday, April 18th and Tuesday, April 19th middle school students at Delaware Academy were educated on the mental health resources available to them both inside and outside of school.  SADD (Student’s Against Destructive Decisions) students, school and crisis counselors shared information on where students can go and who they can contact if they just need to talk, if they are experiencing anxiety or depression, having suicidal thoughts and much more. A summary of the information that was shared is now available on our school website. From the main page go to Services, Health Services and then click on Mental Health, or just follow this link:

Fire Hydrant Design Contest

Fire Hydrant
The Delaware Academy Art Club Fire Hydrant Design Contest Sponsored by the Delhi Beautification Committee   The DA Art Club is pleased to announce its annual Fire Hydrant Design Contest.   Small groups are invited to participate in this contest to design and decorate a village fire hydrant.  Groups of individuals should consist of at least one responsible adult. The contest will run from now until Monday, June 10, 2016.  You may submit a design for approval until May 26, 2016.  After June 10, 2016, all painted fire hydrants will be judged based on their category.

To obtain a design form and learn about the design requirements and restrictions pick up the forms at the Delaware Academy High School main office, the Delhi Elementary School main office, download them from bottom of this page, or submit a request in email to brolfe@delhischools.org with the subject “Fire Hydrant Design Contest”.  Email requests will receive an email response.  There are a limited number of available fire hydrants to paint so please get your submissions in quickly.  Hydrants will be assigned on a first come first served basis.

Nice job Delaware Academy Students and staff!Best High Schools - National High School Rankings 2013, 2016 In the 2013 academic school year, Delaware Academy Central School District at Delhi achieved the “Silver Ranking” as being one of the “Best High Schools in the United States,” according to the U.S. News and World Report Publication. This placed Delaware Academy in the top 7% of all High Schools in the United States.  Most recently, for the 2016 academic school year, Delaware Academy CSD at Delhi has again achieved the “Silver Ranking” for the second time in three years. Of the all the schools reviewed, this again places Delaware Academy in the top 7% of all High Schools in the United States.

Board of Education Election Petitions Available

Delaware Academy Central School District at Delhi has three full term vacancies (3 years each) for Board members. Dr. Thomas Flanders, Mr. Seth Haight, and Ms. Lucy Kelly hold terms that will expire on June 30, 2016.  If you are interested in running for a Board seat, you may pick up a petition in the District Office between the hours of 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.  The petition must be signed by at least 25 school district residents and returned to the District Clerk by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, April 18, 2016.

As per School Law, to be qualified to run for the Board, you must be able to read and write, be a qualified voter of the District and a resident of the District for the continuous year prior to the election, you may not reside with another member of the same school board as a member of the same family, you may not be a current employee of the school board, and may not simultaneously hold another public office.
