Course Syllabus

Studio Art 

Purpose -

The purpose of this course is to give students an idea of all the different types,  styles, media and ways to produce art through a study of art history from Prehistoric to Contemporary times as well as practice and experience in these media and styles.

Goals and Objectives -    

Demonstrate knowledge and creativity essential to producing works of visual art in several media.

Demonstrate the mastery of skills and techniques essential to creating art products.

Demonstrate orally and in writing that he or she understands the diversity of cultural heritages which have contributed to the visual arts. 

Demonstrate orally and in writing that he or she is knowledgeable in the history of visual arts. 

Grading Procedure -

Students will be assessed on their art production.

Students will be assessed on their effort and participation.

Students will be assessed on their completion of assigned exercises in class.

Students will be assessed on the final products of various projects assigned in class. 

Topics of Interest -

Students can expect to study several different time periods and art styles through lecture, production, discussion, and several other avenues.  Students can further expect to explore many different types of media and experiment with those media.
