DASH-Delaware Academy School Based Health-Mrs. Wheeler
Bassett's School based health offers mental health care that is confidential and easily
accessible for all students who are enrolled in the program.  There is never any out of
pocket cost for the services!  Depending on the needs of the student we provide
consultations, diagnostic evaluations, psychotherapy and referrals as needed.  If there is
a concern related to an emotional difficulty, anxiety or depression, a change in the family
or friends, low self esteem, academic difficulties or some a change in one's life, therapy
can be extremely helpful to talk about feelings, provide support and learn strategies to
feel better.  We can also make referrals for other services if needed.
In ongoing counseling, Mrs. Wheeler provides psychotherapy which can include talking
(verbal therapy), cognitive behavior therapy, art, therapeutic games and stress reduction
techniques such as breathing and positive thinking.  Together she will help develop a
plan to solve a student’s problems and feel better.  Because she’s in the school, she can
get a unique understanding of dynamics and relationships that she would not have
working in a clinic or private practice outside the school.  She is also more available to
assist people "in the moment" not days or weeks later as is often the case with outside
clinicians.
How to get in touch with Mrs. Wheeler:

-Stop by her office (located on the 2nd level of the school across from the auditorium balcony)

-Make an appointment with her through the DASH office by stopping by
